Huawei EMUI is nice but if you like Stock Android more, this guide is for you. Learn how you can easily make your Huawei device running EMUI look like Stock Android.
Huawei and Honor have been using their custom skin EMUI on every device since its inception in December 2012. By default, it offers an iOS-like panel of apps directly on the home screen but you can enable an app drawer from the settings. It has matured a lot since it’s initial days when it ironically looked like an iOS rip off instead of something related to Android on which it is based.
Though with updates, Huawei has tried a lot of configurations to make it look more of Android, it is still far away from stock android. If you are someone who is a stock android lover, EMUI might be a pain in the ass for you at the first glance but it doesn’t end here.
In this guide, I will tell you regarding the tips and tricks to make your Huawei or Honor phone’s user interface feel like you are using stock android. And no! I won’t be telling you to install some launcher. Everything mentioned in this guide is under the customization scope of EMUI.
Steps To Make EMUI Feel Like Stock Android
1. Enable The App Drawer
By default, EMUI showcases every icon on the home screen as it is on iOS. To make your UI feel more like stock android, you should enable the app drawer. Follow these steps to enable the app drawer:
- Open the ‘Settings‘ app.
- Under ‘Display‘, tap on ‘Home screen style‘
- Select the drawer option.
2. Install the Pixel 3 EMUI Theme
One of the biggest pros of EMUI is its powerful themes engine. There are a lot of options to theme your user interface. This can be the best way to make the user interface feel like the stock android.
Download the theme from the link appearing below and then follow the steps to install the theme.
Android Pie Concept EMUI Theme by Satyajeet Kumar Rao.
- Copy The <<Theme_Name>>.Hwt files to the “HWtheme” folder in SD Card/Internal memory.
- Open the Theme App on your Huawei phone.
- Go to ‘Offline’ section.
- Browse the theme you like and then click Apply.
This theme customizes your settings layout, quick settings panel, notifications, navigation bar and lot others.
3. Change The Volume Slider Interface
The volume slider in the Android Pie gets a revamped interface. Instead of being a horizontal tab on the top half of the display, you will be able to find it on the right edge of your screen in a vertical orientation. Thanks to XDA developer yogi.306, you can have the same experience on your Huawei or Honor phone. Download the apk file from the link given below, install it and grant the required permissions to use it.
- Download Android P Volume Slider Menu.
And that’s it. I am pretty sure that your Huawei or Honor device’s UI will be looking pretty similar to that of a Pixel phone but on steroids.
